Angel Dean is an artist who mainly works with encaustic media. Her work is personal and unconventional. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, Dean makes work that is the by-product of the life she’s living.
Angel received her BFA from the University of Georgia and her MFA from Cornell University. She spent 15 years in New York City performing and recording for Rounder Records and Diesel Only Records. In 1994 she moved to Providence and now channels her creative energy into the visual domains of encaustics, collage, and mixed media. Locals also know her as an avid gardener, dog lover, stapeliad fancier, and a long-time fixture of the Providence Art Club staff.
Born in Knoxville, TN, she has lived in Nashville, TN; Augusta, GA; Ithaca, NY; and Manhattan. She currently lives and works in Providence, RI. Angel is president of New England Wax 2019 & 20..
