Angel Dean is an artist who mainly works with encaustic media. Her work is personal and unconventional. By contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience, Dean makes work that is the by-product of the life she’s living.
Angel received her BFA from the University of Georgia and her MFA from Cornell University. In 1994 she moved to Providence, RI to channel her creative energy into the visual domains of encaustics, collage, and mixed media. Locals know her as an avid gardener, dog lover, and stapeliad fancier. You will find her working at her studio, 80 Fountain Street in Pawtucket, RI. Angel was president of New England Wax 2019-20.
